Purses for Haiti Update:
Wow Girls...fantastic job! Your enthusiasm to serve and give to others has been contageous. Olivia (with help from Mom) made and then distributed 12 purses last week to friends who offered to help collect their pocket change for the next two weeks in support of the Maranatha Orphanage and School in Haiti. As most of you know, Cornwall Church has a long-standing relationship with the orphanage and school and has sent numerous missions groups in recent years. Thankfully the people who work and live at the facility faired much better than those in Port Au Prince; however their facilities did incur some structural damage and the supply of food and materials has been impacted. 100% of the proceeds collected by the girls will go directly to the Maranatha Orphanage and School.
The girls have been sharing their stories with each other at school. One girl has been collecting change this week and has gotten additional family members to give as well.
Two other girls did a bake sale this weekend in their neighborhood and raised $50 from generous neighbors!
We have also had wonderful family members who follow our blog send in checks to support the effort!
Keep up the great work everyone. The orphanage and school will be so very grateful and you have captured the attention of others impressed with your giving spirit in leading the way! We would love to hear your stories in the comments section. We will also plan to give you an update on our total this week and next!
Thank you for making an immediate impact with us!
