Wow! What a day! We had 415 people show up to run/walk in support of the Loreen Family today.
We were optomistic about the weather with the on-again, off-again rain pattern. Unfortunately, by 11:30AM it was torrential and then the skies seemed to open up even further at 12:00 sharp when the race kicked off. When the horn blew, I literally couldn't hold my eyes open the rain was gushing so hard.
What a moving sight to see friends and family all gathered to walk no matter the walking conditions.
The highlight of the day were the comments of surprise about the WWU Women's Basketball team that lined the course as directional staff with a triumphant finish line thanks to our Squalicum High School Band that showed up enforce to play just like they were at a football game!
Watching the families cross the finish line and shake Mark Loreens' hand was unforgettable.
What a big give today and so much fun to be a part of.
(had no camera onsite today - forgot it in the rush so borrowed pix)
